The National Weather Service Quad Cities Office is conducting its annual spotter training sessions virtually for a second year.
Weather spotters provide real-time conditions such as hail size, wind speed, tornado development, and local damage to help warn the public. There are eight upcoming classes scheduled throughout March and the early part of April. Spotter training covers severe weather hazards including thunderstorms and tornadoes. All classes last about two hours, and are recommended for those 10 years and older. These classes are free, but preregistration is required. For a link to sign up, visit here.
