The indoor track season started for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks last week with a trip to Cedar Falls and the Dickinson Relays on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. It was a big day for Golden Hawk Cain Brown. The sophomore soared over the competition in the high jump, clearing 6’5″ and bringing home the event championship, beating 58 other competitors. No one else in the field cleared more than 6’2″.
Other top finishes for the Golden Hawks included 17th place for Thaddeus Shetler and 18th place for Jamie Stutzman in the mile. Clarke Latcham was 24th in the 60m hurdles, Lucas Bontrager was 24th and Chandler Hershberger 32nd in the two mile, Nathan Quinby was 55th and Braden Hartley 76th in the 60m dash, Dylan Bunting was 61st and Dylan Henry 64th in the long jump, Tyler Helmuth was 62nd and Luke Albright 81st in the 200, Jarron Thomas was 67th and Robert Nagy 73rd in the 800, Grady Gingerich was 68th and Jack Friessen 70th in the 400 and Joe Allred was 68th and Jack Zahradnek 79th in the shot put.
The Golden Hawks also ran three relay events with the 4×200 team taking 26th, the 4×400 team 29th and the 4×800 team 34th.
