Several members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team attended a virtual severe weather spotter training held by the National Weather Service Quad Cities Office Tuesday afternoon.

These free annual trainings are being held virtually for the second year amid the pandemic, and they cover how to identify severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, as well as the up and down drafts of a thunderstorm, shelf and wall clouds, and flash floods. The class also covers the spectrum of different kinds of thunderstorms, how to spot storms safely, and the best ways to report storms and damage to the National Weather Service. There are seven upcoming live online training classes being held this year, and you can find a link to sign up by visiting this story at kciiradio.com. Whenever a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for Washington County, listen to live coverage provided by the KCII Severe Weather Action Team.
