After a tremendous year on the court, Mid-Prairie forward Carter Harmsen was recognized by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
Harmsen, who just completed his junior season for the Golden Hawks, was named third team All-State in class 2A. He finished the year with 421 total points, working out to 18.3 points per game, both third in the River Valley Conference South Division. He topped the 30 point mark four times during the season with 32 against Camanche in the district championship round of the playoffs, 33 points each in wins over Wilton and North Cedar and a high water mark of 36 points in the season opener at Williamsburg.
His 159 rebounds were second in the conference, clocking in at seven boards per game. Harmsen was a unanimous Elite All-River Valley Conference selection and a class 2A All-Substate pick. He is joined on the class 2A third team All-State squad by Pekin’s Brady Millikin, Adam Witty of Des Moines Christian, Creighton Morisch of Spirit Lake, Treynor’s Sid Schaaf, Bo Clausen of Ridgeview, Noah Miller of Forest City and Wilton’s Caden Kirkman.
