Operators of larger RVs will notice better capacity for their electrical hookups this camping season at Marr Park east of Washington.
Washington County Conservation Executive Director Zach Rozmus says the east side of the campground is getting an electrical upgrade from 30 to 50 amps needed to accommodate today’s larger campers, “Years ago we didn’t really anticipate that people would pull in with an RV that has two air conditioning units, an oven, a TV, another TV, all running off the same amps so, at times, the system would just not have the ability to run all that.”
Rozmus says the electrical upgrades will cost about $27,000 and should be complete before the busy camping season gets rolling and while the campground at Marr Park is open year-round, the water system is turned off during the winter months. He says the system should be back on in early April as weather permits. He also reminds campers the Marr Park campground is the only one they operate in Washington County, but there are select areas of all parks they manage that offer carry-in, carry-out camping.
