During the boys state basketball tournament in Des Moines, the Iowa High School Athletic Association honored Keota boys basketball assistant coach and head boys track coach, Larry Lyle as the 2021 recipient of the Character Counts Coach of the Year Award.

During his career Lyle has served as a volunteer and summer camp coach, youth league coach, assistant and head baseball coach, head boys track coach, and assistant boys basketball coach. He has also won the 2003 Roushar-Evan’s Award for the Southeast District from the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association and was named the 2005 Southeast Region Track Coach of the Year. Lyle is a 1969 Keota High School graduate.
