High school students in Washington County that are interested in earning college credits have two opportunities to learn about the 15 career academies being offered by the Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center.

The regional center is hosting a virtual information session at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom today and in person at 5:30 p.m. at the center tomorrow. Director Tera Pickens says the academies are free for Washington County high school students, “And that’s great that high school students have that opportunity to explore these classes at the younger age of in high school because they’re figuring out earlier on if this is a good fit for a college major, a good fit for a career, instead of entering into college as a full time student, paying the tuition and then all of a sudden sophomore year they realize that maybe the major they picked is not a great choice for them.”

The in-person information session will be a socially-distanced event with face masks required, and campus tours will be available. The event will also be limited in capacity. Registration for fall 2021 is preferred by the end of this month.
