The Des Moines office of the National Weather Service released findings based on data from 2006-2020 regarding tornado warnings across the state. The National Weather Service reviewed tornado warnings issued during that time period and formulated an annual average for warnings issued by county. Washington county sees on average 1.93 tornado warnings per severe weather season. The highest total in the KCII listening area is Johnson county at 2.87 per year. Other averages include Iowa county at 2.4, Louisa County at 1.67, Keokuk and Henry county each at 1.4 and Jefferson county at 0.87.
