Painting projects in Brighton, Columbus Junction and Wapello will benefit from Keep Iowa Beautiful grants.

Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful announced the grant awards for the 2021 Paint Iowa Beautiful program which provides free paint to a variety of public service projects throughout the state. First Church of God in Brighton will use free paint for improvements to the gymnasium, lower concrete foundation and interior floors. The City of Columbus Junction will paint intersections and walkways to make them safer. And in Wapello, free paint is going to Louisa County 4-H for painting livestock buildings and fencing.

Governor Kim Reynolds has proclaimed April as “Keep Iowa Beautiful Month” and Diamond Vogel Vice-President Doug Vogel says the Iowa-based company is pleased to award the free paint. In the 18-year partnership with Keep Iowa Beautiful, Diamond Vogel has donated over 11,860 gallons of paint for 1,132 community projects in Iowa.

In addition to the paint projects,  Keep Iowa Beautiful is also sponsoring “Pick-Up Iowa” through June 30th which invites communities to clean up litter and trash along Iowa’s roadsides, neighborhoods, streets, school grounds, parks and streams.  Registered participant groups are eligible for a limited supply of free cleanup items such as bags, grabbers, safety vests and gloves.
