A total of 12 boys and girls track teams will flock to Williamsburg tonight for a meet that includes area schools Washington, Mid-Prairie, and Hillcrest Academy.

Washington’s Lance Sobaski is out to a fast start to the season by winning a pair of events in the past two meets including taking the 800m and 3200m on Thursday at Mount Pleasant. Ally Rees led the girls with a fourth place finish in the shot put and Molly Klinzman was fifth in the 100m hurdles. Mid-Prairie was also at that meet and the girls crowned two champions with Ella Groenewold winning the high jump and the 4x100m relay taking first. The Golden Hawk boys saw Clarke Latchem win the 400m hurdles and Cain Brown had the best high jump. Hillcrest Academy has had big contributions from Aaron Hershberger to start his senior season and at Wapello last week he placed first in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. Madeline Fox placed second in the same events on the girls’ side.

Other schools competing today included Belle Plaine, Benton Community, Center Point-Urbana, Grinnell, Mount Pleasant, Solon, Oskaloosa, Vinton-Shellsburg, and the host Raiders. All of the action begins at 4:30 p.m. in Williamsburg.
