Most soccer players could go a whole career without scoring six goals, but then again most soccer players aren’t Trina Griffin. The Washington senior had a monumental night for the Demon girls in their 8-1 season opening win at Oskaloosa.

Griffin, who led the Southeast Conference with 19 goals in 2019, picked up right where she left off with a double hat trick of an eye-popping six goals on Monday night. That mark already leads all classes in the first week of the new year and would have been the second highest amount in the 2019 season. Greta Rothe had the other two goals for a Demon team that scored four times in each half. Taylor Brinning and Giselle Marcelino each had an assist while Alex Murphy had three saves as the goalie and Elyse Hunt had one.

The Demons start up the season 1-0 and get back on the pitch tomorrow for the home opener against Fort Madison.
