The Washington County ISU Extension and Outreach office is partnering with the Washington Chamber of Commerce to celebrate Extension Week with an Alive After Five event.
The open house will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13th at the extension office located at the Washington County Fairgrounds, and will include interactive and informational booths to showcase what extension does for the community. Washington County 4-H/Youth Coordinator Amy Green shares how it feels to be hosting an in-person event over a year since the pandemic began, “It has been an interesting year following a lot of important safety procedures and expectations from Iowa State University, and we now are in a place where we can be together and be safe and do that well. And so we’re excited to have all of those things kind of picking back up again and we’ve learned a lot along the way and so we’re applying all of that as we move forward as well.”
The community is welcome to attend this event and meet the new Extension County Director Andy Miller as well as other extension specialists who serve the county. Attendees can also receive information about local programs including Agriculture in the Classroom, Pick a Better Snack, and Women and Agriculture, and door prizes and snacks will also be included.
