The Kirkwood for Kids camp is back for the Washington County Regional Center this summer, with some changes amid the ongoing pandemic.
Director Tera Pickens says the staff is excited to be holding two camp sessions in June and July for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade after they were cancelled last year. Enrollment numbers are limited this year for safety and individualized attention to only 20 students per age group, and camp sessions will be held from 9 a.m.-noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to allow cleaning and sanitation on Tuesday and Thursday. With the three-day format, Pickens says tuition fees have decreased, “And also in years’ past we would have six opportunities for students to choose from in the first through fifth grade level and they would select three experiences. This year we’re actually going to be able to expand the experiences so students can actually rotate through all six experiences in a shorter time frame. So they’re able to experience these classes that maybe they wouldn’t have selected the year before or maybe it was filling up prior.”
Face masks will be required within the regional center, and busing to and from the camp will not be offered due to COVID-19 safety precautions. Deadline to register is June 1st, and you can find more information by visiting here.
