The Mid-Prairie soccer programs turned a road trip to Monticello Friday into a business trip, sweeping away the Panthers in impressive fashion. The Golden Hawk girls beat Monticello by a mercy rule 10-0 score. Mid-Prairie posted nine goals in the first half and six total Golden Hawks scored in the game, led by Esther Hughes with four goals. Kaitlin Martin scored twice and Sophia Baker, Kina Miller, Katrina Curtiss and Paityn Jennings each had one goal. The win evens the Golden Hawk girls’ record at 1-1 on the young season.

The No. 10 ranked Mid-Prairie boys improved to 2-0 as they ran past Monticello 7-1 at Dean Nelson Field. The Golden Hawks stormed out to a 6-0 halftime lead. Gunnar Gingerich and Jack Pennington each scored twice for Mid-Prairie. Owen Trimpe, Yassin Ahmed and Jarrett Hoffman each scored once for Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawk soccer teams will be back in action Tuesday when they take on Tipton.
