It was all smiles for the Columbus Community girls’ soccer team on Friday when they picked up their first win of the season downing Wapello 9-2 on the road.
It didn’t take long for this one to be put to bed, as the Wildcats tallied seven first half goals to lead 7-2 at the break and they never looked back en route to the Southeast Iowa Super Conference victory. It was a good day to be a Valdez with Juvixsa and Odalyz Valdez each scoring a hat trick with three goals a piece. Aaliyah Santos found the back of the net twice and registered three assists. Lecet Quiroz had the other Wildcat goal and Alynna Leos recorded six saves defensively.
The Wildcats improve to 1-1 and get back on the pitch tomorrow hosting Mediapolis.
