The Washington Police Department responded to a threat made against the Washington Community School District Thursday.

A joint release from the police department and school district Thursday evening states that upon being made aware of a threat, the district immediately took action and was able to determine the nature and source of the threat and notified the police department. A student was then referred to juvenile court with a criminal charge of first degree harassment, and the district will continue working with law enforcement regarding the matter.
