The Mid-Prairie boys and girls track and field teams will send a combined eight events to compete on the historic blue oval at the Drake Relays in Des Moines this week. Seven of those events will compete for the Golden Hawk girls. Mitzi Evans is a three time qualifier this season. Evans advanced to Drake in the 400 by qualifying eighth of 16 with a time of 58.89 seconds recorded at Clear Creek Amana April 9th. She will also run the 800 on the blue oval, qualifying 13th of 16 with a time of 2:20.38 from Williamsburg April 6th. Evans is part of the lone Golden Hawk relay to qualify, the 4×100 which is 17th in the field of 48 with a time of 50.94 seconds from Williamsburg April 6th. Tori Boyse is a multi qualifier. She made it to Des Moines in the shot put as the 23rd of 24 qualifiers with a throw of 38’6” from Monday’s meet at Iowa City West. She will also throw the discus at Drake, qualifying 13th of 24 with a throw of 120’6” at Monday’s meet in Iowa City. Golden Hawk Danielle Hostetler is also a multiple qualifier. She will race in the 1,500, qualifying 12th of 21 in the field with her 4:52.77 mark from Iowa City West on Monday. She will also run the 3,000 in Des Moines after getting in with the eight seed and a time of 10:29.33 from Clear Creek Amana on April 9th.
The Golden Hawk boys will be represented by Cain Brown in the high jump. He enters with the sixth best mark in the field of 24, clearing 6’5” at the Dickinson Relays at the UNI-Dome on March 9th.
