A bid for the 128th place culvert project was awarded by the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

County Engineer Jacob Thorius presented one bid submitted for a culvert to be replaced north of Highway 22 northeast of Wellman. Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington came below Thorius’ estimate of $225,000 with a bid of about $175,512. The late start date for the project is August 16th, with 25 working days contracted. In other business, the supervisors approved three personnel change requests from the county ambulance service. They hired Aimee Buol, Travis Handy, and Dakota Connolly as part-time emergency medical technicians. Ambulance Director Jeremy Peck noted that the pool for hiring paramedics and EMTs has gotten smaller as more hospitals in the area are hiring these positions, and they are very lucky to find these hires.
