It’s a River Valley Conference soccer doubleheader tonight when the Mid-Prairie boys and girls make their way to Anamosa to battle the Blue Raiders.
The Mid-Prairie boys come into the match with a 3-0 record on the season. The Hawks are ranked No. 8 in class 1A in the last poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. They were a winner last Tuesday over Tipton 8-1 with Owen Trimpe posting a hat trick. On the season the Hawks are led by Owen Trimpe with five goals and Zeus Fugate with four. Ethan Trimpe has the team lead with four assists. Keaton Graber has spent 205 minutes in goal with five saves and a 71.4% save percentage.
The Anamosa boys are 0-4 on the season. They have been outscored 23-4 through the first part of their schedule including an 8-1 loss to West Branch on Friday. On the year, the Blue Raiders are led by Robert Weaver and Jordan Brown each with a pair of goals. Brown has the team lead with two assists. In goal, Nicholas Raine has 58 saves in 249 minutes with a 79.5% save percentage. These two teams met for the first time ever in 2019 with Mid-Prairie taking a 2-0 win.
The Golden Hawk girls are 3-2 on the year after a 2-0 setback Monday against Solon in Wellman. For the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Esther Hughes with 10 goals and Kaitlin Martin with four assists. Defensively, Emily Swartzentruber has 15 saves in 225 minutes in goal with a 65% save percentage.
The Anamosa girls are 0-2 this season with losses to Regina 8-3 and Central DeWitt 6-1. The Blue Raiders are led on the year by Claire Brown, Chloe Breitbach and Addy Rogers all with one goal each. Natalie Herson paces the Raiders with one assist. Mid-Prairie won the last matchup between the two schools in 2019 by a 7-3 score.
