Three KCII area boys golf teams travel to the Wahkonsa Country Club today for the Durant Invitational.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks come into the event off of a fifth place finish of 10 teams at their home 18-hole invitational last Tuesday in Kalona, shooting 401. The Hawks were led by Dominic McCain who finished sixth overall with a score of 84. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by McCain with a 40 average per nine holes and 84 average per 18.
Winfield-Mt. Union will also be at Durant today. The Wolves were last on the course Thursday when they beat Mediapolis heads up in a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual 183-224 behind medalist Brady Loyd’s 40 and medalist runner-up Jacob Kongable’s 43. On the season the Wolves are led by Loyd with a 41 average per nine holes. He’s also best on the team with a 96 average per 18 this season.
Columbus comes into the day after a 193-235 dual win over Lone Tree Thursday. Robert Coil was medalist with a 42. Logan Bright was medalist runner-up with a 43. On the season the Wildcats are led by Coil with a 46 average per nine holes. Joining those three area teams at Durant today will be Calamus-Wheatland, Louisa-Muscatine, North Cedar, Iowa City Regina, West Branch, West Liberty, Wilton and the home Wildcats. Action starts at noon and continues the rest of the day at the Wahkonsa Country Club.
