The Blue Oval will have a tint of Orange and Black today, as four Washington boys’ track runners will compete in the annual Drake Relays in Des Moines. 

Usually a three day event, the high school portion of the relays will just be today and the Demons qualified three events for America’s Athletic Classic. Sophomore Elijah Morris is the only underclassmen competing in the 400m dash and his time of 50.12 seconds in last week’s Mount Pleasant meet is the seventh fastest time in the state. Lance Sobaski will run in the 3200m. The junior just squeaked into the 21 runner field with his personal record time of 9:46 in Mount Pleasant. The distance medley relay of Ethan Patterson, Jacob Miller, Morris, and Sobaski will be in the fast heat after a 3:37 time held up from two weeks ago at Williamsburg.

The 3200m will be at approximately 9:30 a.m., the distance medley at 11:40 a.m., and the 400m at noon. Stay tuned to KCII for updates.
