The Mid-Prairie boys and girls soccer teams had busy brooms Friday night in Wellman as they swept away Northeast Goose Lake and Prince of Peace Friday. The Golden Hawk girls opened the night with a 5-0 shut out win over the Rebels. Esther Hughes and Julia Boller supplied first half goals for Mid-Prairie. Coupled with a good defensive effort Mid-Prairie took a 2-0 lead into half. Out of the break, the defense continued to lock down the Rebels while the offense added insurance with a goal from Kaitlin Martin and two more from Boller to finish her hat trick. After the match she talked about the night. “It felt great to be out there again with my teammates. I definitely didn’t expect a hat trick like that. It seemed like my speed and good passing from my teammates helped set up the goals.”

Emily Swartzentruber turned in a clean sheet in goal for the Hawks. With the win, Mid-Prairie is now 5-2 on the season and host Union, La Porte City Monday.

The Mid-Prairie boys stayed unbeaten on the season with a 3-0 win over Prince of Peace. The Golden Hawks and Irish played the first half to a scoreless stalemate. In the second half the offense got things rolling early with Owen Trimpe. He scored a natural hat trick after the break with goals in the 44th minute on a Gunner Gingerich assist, then teamed up with Zeus Fugate in the 48th and 60th minutes to give the Hawks insurance. After the match he talked about what was working for the offense. “All season we have had great synergy. Our 1-2 combinations are getting better. I have a great relationship with my teammates and my mids, playing on this team or in club we have developed great synergy. My favorite goal tonight was the third because I didn’t think it was going in, neither did the goalie, he had stopped and it curved in at the last minute.”

Those three goals were more than enough for Keaton Graber in goal with his clean sheet. With the win, the No. 8 ranked Golden Hawks are now 5-0 on the year and travel to Columbus Monday.
