Participants should be prepared to get dirty during the 4th Annual Crooked Creek Wild happening Saturday, May 1st at Crooked Creek Christian Camp south of Washington.
Program Director Saralyn Murray Oyer says the challenge-course event will take runners through the natural landscape of Crooked Creek, but will also include mud and various obstacles along the way. She says proceeds will help kids attend camps this summer, “So it’s a fun mud run is what we’re calling it and it’s an event we set up to help raise funds for families who can’t afford to come to summer camp, summer camp stipends, as well as other special activities we do during our summer camps, so all the money goes towards that. We do get sponsors and raise money so that 100% of the registrations can go to those different areas.
Murray Oyer says their goal is to raise $5,000 from the mud run with additional funds raised from the free will donation lunch that follows. She adds there is an adult division, plus a junior division course that will be less challenging for kids 10 and under. She adds runners will be sent off in sectioned groups to allow for more social distancing. The event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. In 2019, about 150 people participated.
