The Mid-Prairie boys golf team scored their first River Valley Conference dual victory of the season, beating Wilton in Kalona 191-198 on Monday. Dominic McCain rolled to a career best round of 37 to take medalist honors. After the meet the senior talked about the night. “Normally, I put pressure on myself. Tonight I went out there knowing it was going to be windy, so if I hit smooth drives, hit fairways, hit greens, even with the wind, I can probably gain an advantage. On hole six I hit my tee shot in the middle of the fairway then pulled my second behind a tree. I had to play back out in the fairway, had a 20 foot putt for par and drilled it. Definitely the shot of the day. I feel like today is pretty special since it’s my last meet here for Mid-Prairie.”
Other scores for the Hawks included matching rounds of 50 for sophomores Warren Scarff and Collin Gingerich, 54 for Ben Mattes, 57 for Aiden Bush and 59 for Drew Schlabaugh.
