A man from Libertyville in Jefferson County has been arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office following an incident on his property.

Lucas Anthony McCoy of Libertyville was arrested and charged with second-degree arson, a class C felony, and insurance fraud – conspiracy, a class D felony. The charges stem from a fire at his property, 2437 Indigo Blvd, on October 22nd, 2020. It is alleged that McCoy removed personal property from the residence and created conditions for a fire to start and engulf the home. The residence was deemed a complete loss.

A former volunteer firefighter, McCoy has allegedly made past statements to others about how to burn his home to create the appearance of an accident. Investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered items which McCoy had claimed on his insurance policy as being destroyed by the fire, had been removed from the home prior.
