One of the most prestigious track meet in eastern Iowa is tonight when WACO hosts the annual Ekstrand Relays with plenty of schools in the area competing.
A total of 17 schools will make the trek for the highly touted regular season meet including area schools of Highland, Lone Tree, Winfield-Mt. Union, Washington, Sigourney, and Hillcrest Academy. Warrior boys head coach Caylon Devaul tells KCII Sports it doesn’t get much better than Ekstrand. “A lot of schools show up and we always put on a good show. Coach Edeker does so much for our program and organizes everything to make sure the meet runs smooth. I always enjoyed coming to this meet even as a coach of a different school and it means more to me now to be a part of it. We get so many volunteers to help. It will be a good time that is for sure.”
Other schools participating include Central Lee, Danville, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fairfield, Fort Madison, HLV, Keokuk, Mediapolis, New London, and Tri-County.
All of the action begins at 4:30 p.m. tonight in Wayland.
