The Washington Community School Board approved bids for the Lincoln Elementary heating, ventilation and air conditioning improvement project during a special meeting Tuesday.

After receiving 18 bid proposals the board approved contracts for five bid packages and two alternates for a total of $2,759,509. The board also approved two alternate rooftop unit purchases for Lincoln at a total cost of $57,795. These units will serve the gym and kitchen areas and will improve efficiency and air quality in those spaces. The board also approved submitting a special events application to the City of Washington for a high school graduation parade from noon-1 p.m. on May 14th. Superintendent Willie Stone mentioned that this is typically an informal annual event but they now wish to have the police department’s assistance for the senior car parade that will go from the high school past Case Field, and then to Lincoln Elementary, the middle school, Stewart Elementary, and St. James Catholic School.
