The Washington soccer teams were looking to bounce back from losses on Monday and one of them did against Southeast Conference foe Burlington.

The first time on artificial turf this year had no impact on a Demon boys’ win with a 5-3 final at Bracewell Stadium. The walking hat trick that is Zac Stout continued his scoring ways by tallying four goals on the night. The Grayhounds (2-6) found the back of the net first in the opening two minutes of the game, but Stout answered right back and was the beneficiary of an Isaac Gentry pass in the middle of the field to tie it up at 1-1. Noah Suchan and Stout scored again before the break for a 3-2 halftime lead. Burlington tied it up after intermission, but the 6’4’’ Stout did the rest to pick up his fourth hat trick of the season and one more for good measure. Gentry had a pair of assists while Simeon Buie, Fabian DeJesus, and Adin Muff each had one. DaShaun Westphal-Edwards collected eight saves in goal. The Demons move to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the SEC. The girls did not have as good of luck on a windy night and were shutout 3-0 at home. The Grayhounds (6-2) scored in the first five minutes of the contest off of a free kick and the Demons could never recover despite having numerous shots on goal all night. Washington is now 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Both squads return home tomorrow against Mediapolis for a doubleheader.
