The Mid-Prairie soccer teams are on the road Thursday when they travel to Williamsburg to meet the Raiders in a non-conference doubleheader. The Mid-Prairie boys come in at 7-1 for the year after suffering their first setback of the season, falling to No. 3 Iowa City Regina 6-2 in Wellman on Tuesday. Mid-Prairie got goals in the contest from Owen Trimpe and Gunnar Gingerich. The Hawks are ranked No. 5 in this week’s class 1A poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. For the year, Mid-Prairie is led by Owen Trimpe with 13 goals. Ethan Trimpe has a team best seven assists. In goal, Keaton Graber has made 15 saves for a 60% save percentage.
Williamsburg is 5-6 on the year, the Raiders dropped a contest to Solon Monday 1-0. For the year the Raiders are led by Braeden Brown with seven goals. Caleb Mohr has the team lead with four assists and in goal, Kadince Kuesel has made 86 saves with an 81.9% save percentage. Mid-Prairie has won four of the last five matches in the series, but it was the Raiders with a 1-0 shut out win in the most recent edition in 2016.
The Mid-Prairie girls are 7-4 on the season. They were beaten Tuesday on the road at No. 9 Iowa City Regina 3-0. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Esther Hughes with 17 goals, sixth most in class 1A. Kaitlin Martin has a team best five assists and in goal, Emily Swartzentruber has made 58 saves with a 73.4% save percentage.
Williamsburg is 4-5 on the year. They dropped a match Monday to Solon 1-0. On the year, the Raiders are led by Erin Francis with eight goals. Olivia Caron and Kyrah Sissel each have a pair of assists and in goal, Ellie Stanerson has made 60 saves with an 87% save percentage. The girls match starts at 5p.m. with the boys to follow at Williamsburg High School.
