One week removed from the Ekstrand Relays, WACO will host another important track meet tonight with the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet.
The 15-team co-ed competition will feature six area schools in Highland, Columbus Community, Lone Tree, Hillcrest Academy, Winfield-Mt. Union, and the host Warriors. The WACO girls’ shuttle hurdle relay has posted the fastest time in the league to date in 1:14 and Dane Sweezer of the Winfield-Mt. Union boys is second in both the 110m hurdles (16.54) and 400m hurdles (58.04).
WMU Boys Head Coach Matt Sheyko tells KCII Sports this meet will be a great tuneup for next week’s state qualifier. “I want to use this meet as a trial run for districts and really load up on a few relays. We are looking forward to it and to just have one meet this week will allow us to have fresh legs. I am looking forward to see what we can do.”
The chance at a conference title begins at 4 p.m. today in Wayland.
