Three KCII area boys and girls golf teams met at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort Thursday in a non-conference triangular when Mid-Prairie, Highland and Lone Tree squared off. In the boys competition, Mid-Prairie won the team title with a score of 179, their lowest recorded team score on the season. The Golden Hawks had the meet medalist and medalist runner-up with Dominic McCain shooting a 40 and Warren Scarff a 44. Those two spoke after the meet about their day. “First hole I drew my ball over to the left side of the fairway. From there I was able to wedge it up there within about 20 feet on the second tier of the green. I was able to hit the putt, dead center of the cup. I have never trusted my putter more than I have on that shot.” “For me, I wouldn’t say there wasn’t one specific shot or hole, I played pretty decent all the way around today. I pared one and two and eight. I had a double bogey in there, and the rest were bogeys so it worked out.”

Other scores for Mid-Prairie included Aiden Bush 46, Drew Schlabaugh 49, Ben Mattes 54 and Ian Schmidt 57.

Lone Tree shot a team score of 216. Adam Knock and Joe Boxwell tied for low round with a 51. Tyce Alt and Oliver Altenhofen each shot 57s while Dominic Graap and Sebastian Jacque had 62s. Highland did not post a team score. Low round for the Huskies came from Brock Schaedler with a 49. Jamison Kasperak finished with a 51 and Payton Yeggy 53.

On the girls side of the meet, Highland won the team title with their score of 239. Charlie Aicher led the Huskies with her round of 50. Other Highland scores included Kelsi Cerny 59, Jenna Waters 60 and Kerra Longbine 63. Mid-Prairie was second with a 235 team score. Alexa Huber shot the low round with a 55. Other scores for Mid-Prairie included Madi Davidson 56, Madelyn Bender 58, Elliot Debler 66, Gabi Robertson 69 and Madison Witthoft 81.

Lone Tree finished third in the team race with a score of 285, but the Lady Lions had the meet medalist with Kylie Patterson carding a 49. She spoke after the meet about her round. “I just wanted to come out and play my best. I didn’t set too many expectations. We had a meet earlier this week that got canceled so I wanted to come out while we had a chance to play and have a good time. Number four is a long par five and I pared it today. I thought that was pretty cool. My mid-game was good today with my irons. My mid-game and short game boosted me today.”

Other scores for Lone Tree included Tessa Galloway with a 78 and Allison Marshek and Avery Grover with 79s.
