A Washington man was sentenced to five years in prison for violating his sex offender registration requirements, second or subsequent offense, a class D felony.
Twenty-seven year-old Michael Allen Bryant pleaded guilty to the offense, and he must pay a $750 fine with a 15% surcharge and Category B restitution. Bryant was also ordered to serve an original two-year prison sentence that was suspended for a previous registry violation on February 19, 2020. Both sentences are to be served concurrently.
Bryant is also awaiting sentencing for a guilty plea to violating his probation on a conviction of domestic abuse assault, a serious misdemeanor. Bryant was previously convicted of violating his sex offender registry on January 29, 2020 and April 15, 2020. His most recent violation was for failing to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office last June. He was later court ordered to stay at a residential correctional facility, but in October he removed his ankle monitor and left the facility without permission.
