The City of Wellman is helping residents finish spring cleaning with a citywide cleanup event. From noon to 4 p.m. this Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday the city will be offering drop-off and curbside disposal. Drop-off disposal is at the maintenance building at 205 9th Avenue, but those who take part need to provide their name and address prior to unloading items in the dumpsters. Curbside pickup will cost $15 and is available only on Friday. Those who want to use this option must prepay and add their name and address to a pickup list prior to that day.

Items that will be accepted include those too large for the typical Cox Sanitation bags: furniture, bicycles, lawn furniture, lawn mowers, small amounts of wood, and small scrap metal items. They will not accept building or remodeling waste, oil, paint, tires, toxic waste, bags of garbage, or electronic waste. Televisions, electronics and computers can be disposed of by purchasing a sticker at City Hall and placing the items out for Thursday garbage pickup.
