The federal income tax filing deadline approaches in less than a week.
The U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service extended the deadline from April 15th to May 17th amid the pandemic. The Iowa Department of Revenue extended the income tax filing and payment deadline from April 30th to June 1st. Interest on unpaid taxes shall be due beginning on June 2nd. The state is currently processing tax refunds in 28 days, slightly under the department’s goal of 30 days, and you can check the status of your refund by clicking here.
