An April jury trial led to the acquittal of a former Columbus Community High School teacher on felony sex charges. According to online records, 35-year-old Eusebio Jimenez Jr. was employed by the district as a Spanish teacher in 2018 when a 15-year-old male student alleged that Jimenez sent sexually suggestive messages to him via social media. An allegation that Jimenez also rubbed the inside of the student’s thigh was also included. The day before the 2019-2020 year began at the school, Jimenez was arrested by school, child welfare and law enforcement officials on a charge of felony sexual exploitation by a school employee. An aggravated misdemeanor charge of sexual exploitation was dismissed in court.
Following arrest, he pleaded not guilty and resigned his position with the district in November of 2019. The trial in Louisa County District Court lasted two days.
