A Washington man was recently sentenced for a February incident.
Through a plea agreement, 35-year-old Ian Lee Knotts was convicted of a lesser charge of interference with official acts inflicting bodily injury, and domestic abuse assault impeding airflow, both aggravated misdemeanors. A charge of assault on persons in certain occupations causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor, was dismissed with costs to the defendant. Consecutive two-year prison sentences for each conviction were suspended except for two days, conditioned on Knotts’ future good behavior, and he is ordered to serve two years probation. He must pay a $855 fine with a 15% surcharge for the first charge, and a fine on the second was suspended pending successful completion of probation. Knotts must also pay pecuniary damages, category B restitution, complete a substance abuse evaluation, and participate in a domestic abuse offender treatment program.
Knotts was originally charged with interference with official acts inflicting serious injury, a class D felony, for an incident involving the Washington Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
