A main thoroughfare in Washington County is receiving important work this summer. Shoulder construction is occurring on Highway 22 between Kalona and Riverside. The surface will be a hot mix asphalt (HMA) with a six inch thickness and varying widths of four and 10 feet. Work began on May 12th and is anticipated to be completed mid-September. Through traffic will be maintained on the project at all times. Lane closures will be in place during the day and shoulder closures at night with flaggers directing traffic.
