The opening bell will ring Thursday evening for the start of a summer tradition in downtown Washington.

The Washington Farmers’ Market takes place Thursday evenings from 5-7:30 p.m. in Central Park beginning this week until October 14th. There will be locally grown, baked, and produced products for purchase, and Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt gives a sneak peek of which vendors to expect, “I think we’re going to have a lot of the returning ones, a lot of our, you know, the Golden Delights, that are the favorites for baked goods. I know Brad Alderton’s coming back with his produce so he’ll have some early spring stuff and then it’ll move into his seasonal and tomatoes and stuff like that. I know we have several other produce vendors that are returning. We’re hoping to have our fresh floral back. We’ll have prepared food vendors for sure, we have our featured food trucks starting May 27th.”

There will also be special events throughout the summer at the market, with guest organizations taking part to spread the word on their impact on the community. For more information on the market or to become a vendor, contact Bob Shepherd at 319-458-9396 or Grunewaldt at 319-653-3918.
