The City of Kalona is offering residents a chance to get rid of unwanted items this May. A citywide cleanup day is scheduled for Saturday, May 22nd from 8-11a.m. This is a reduced price program and the price per load will be determined by arrival. Items that will be accepted include glass, plastics, scrap metal, holiday lights, bicycles, small camping grills, mattresses, box spring, furniture, and appliances. Items that will not be accepted include yard waste, cardboard, computer monitors, televisions, tires, oil, shingles, building materials, railroad ties, asbestos, light bulbs, hazardous materials, and lead acid batteries. Residents may bring items to the west parking lot of Kalona City Park and payment can be made by cash or check. Contact Kalona City Hall at 319-656-2310 for more information.
