The game may have been closer than Wildcat fans had hoped, but the bottom line was a win in favor of the Columbus Community girls’ soccer team on Tuesday when they edged past Wapello in a home Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown.
The winless Arrows (0-9) looked like they had a chance at their first victory in the first half being up 2-1 at the break before Odalyz Valdez and the Wildcats did just enough to find the back of the net twice in the final 40 minutes. Valdez had two goals on the evening and Juvixsa Valdez recorded one. Alynna Leos managed eight saves at the other end.
The Wildcats move to 7-3 overall, 4-1 in the conference, and gear up for the regular season finale on Friday at Washington.
