The biggest three days in the Iowa High School Track season is upon us and it all gets started today in Des Moines for the State Track and Field Meet.

The three day co-ed meet will feature athletes from all 10 KCII area schools including eight that compete today at Drake Stadium. The schedule consists of Class 2A and 3A being the morning session each day while 1A and 4A will be in the evening. WACO Boys Head Coach Caylon DeVaul tells KCII Sports the nerves will be there, but you just have to go out and compete. “I am just glad they are able to experience state this year. It is the state meet, but you can’t make it bigger than it is. You don’t want to get into your head and be your own worst enemy. Just go out and give your best effort and you will be happy with whatever outcome there is.”

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced on Monday there will be no attendance limitations, but masks are strongly encouraged.

Tune into KCII every hour on the hour today, tomorrow, and Saturday for live area updates from Des Moines and follow along online at kciiradio.com.
