The Washington County Riverboat Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2021 large grant cycle.

This will be the only large grant cycle for this year, and as of their May 12th board of directors meeting they had received three applications with 17 in draft stage. Board Director Mark Weidman says matching dollars aren’t required for the application, but they certainly don’t hurt, “It really spices up your application, that is probably one hot topic of discussion when we do get a grant application throughout the board of directors. I’m not saying that a high number of matching funds will get you your grant, but it does look really good to the board when you do have a significant percentage of matching funds.”

This grant cycle is somewhat a departure since the pandemic impacted the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, from which the foundation receives its funding. Earlier this month they awarded 27 grants of up to $5,000 for their spring small grant cycle, and in 2020 they awarded relief grants to non-profit organizations who had suffered hardships as a result of the pandemic. The large grant cycle application deadline is June 5th, and the foundation anticipates having an award ceremony in November.
