The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams travel to Lowden tonight to take on the North Cedar Knights in River Valley Conference play. The Mid-Prairie baseball team is 3-0 on the season after beating Fairfield 8-0 in Wellman Tuesday. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 4 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie is hitting .382 as a team with a 0.74 combined ERA. On the year, they are led by Kayden Reinier with a .636 average, seven hits and five RBI. Alex Bean, Keegan Gingerich and Aidan Rath have all recorded pitching wins this year, with Bean and Gingerich not surrendering a run.

North Cedar is 1-1 on the year, splitting a doubleheader with Bellevue on Monday, beating the Comets 10-5 in the opener before falling in the nightcap 6-5. The Knights are hitting .236 with a team ERA of 2.15. They are led individually by Tadan Lange with a .714 average, five hits and three RBI. On the mound, Tyler Jackson is 1-0 in four and a third innings, striking out seven with no runs allowed. These two teams met a season ago with Mid-Prairie winning 16-5. The Hawks have won eight in a row in the series.

The Mid-Prairie softball team enters action with an 0-3 record after falling at Keokuk on Tuesday 11-10. The Golden Hawks had a 10-3 lead slip away late against the Chiefs. The Golden Hawk offense put up 15 hits including a three hit, three RBI night for Dakota Mitchell. The Hawks are hitting .370 as a team and sport a 9.57 team ERA. Individually, they are led by Mitchell’s .538 average with seven total hits, three RBI and three runs scored. In the circle, Myah Lugar has thrown 19 innings with an 0-1 record and 8.19 ERA.

North Cedar is 2-0 on the season, sweeping Bellevue 14-0 and 2-1 on Monday. The Knights are hitting .345 as a team and pitching with a 0.64 ERA. Individually, they are led by Mayson Lehrman with a .571 average, four hits and four RBI. In the circle, Kendall Smith and Alyssa Hefflefinger have combined to go 2-0 and strike out 17 across 12 innings. Mid-Prairie had won 15 straight in the series over North Cedar before a 2-1 loss to the Knights last year. Both games start at 7p.m. in Lowden.
