It wasn’t the start to 2021 that the Keota summer teams were looking for on Wednesday when they entertained English Valleys in the season opener and the Eagles dropped the South Iowa Cedar League matchups.
The Eagle baseball team could never recover from a six run English Valleys third and Keota fell 8-2. The Eagles scattered five hits led by Caden Clarahan with a knock and one RBI. Carson Sprouse tossed five innings on the bump giving up two runs on four hits and striking out nine.
The softball team also gave up a crooked number inning with six runs in the third and the game snowballed to a 13-0 victory for the Bears.
Both squads gear up for an area rivalry tonight when the Eagles travel to face Sigourney.
