The moment of truth has arrived for the Washington girls’ soccer team tonight when they travel to Marion for a first round class 2A regional.

The Demons capped off the regular season 7-7 last week after taking care of Columbus Community 8-1. Trina Griffin has led the offense all season long with 27 goals that ranks second in the Southeast Conference and Greta Rothe’s 15 is fourth. Elyse Hunt and Alex Murphy have split time in goal and the duo has collected 118 saves this year. Marion is 11-4 and finished second in the WaMac East division with a 9-3 conference mark. Grace Coates has put up gaudy numbers by averaging a hat trick a game with 48 goals on the season that ranks second in the state regardless of class. Anna Tuuri has 83 saves at the other end.

The chance to move on gets underway at 4:30 p.m. this evening in Marion.
