For the second time in as many games this season, the Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team saw a lead disappear late in a 5-4 loss to Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday in Kalona. Hillcrest broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a four run frame. The Falcons answered back in the top of the fifth with three runs to pull within 4-3 and that’s where the game stood with Hillcrest three outs away from their first victory of 2021, but it was not to be, as L-M plated a pair in the seventh and closed the door on the Ravens in the home half to secure the win. Bryar Runnells went two for four at the plate for Louisa-Muscatine, driving in three while Allen Stauffer recorded the win on the mound in relief going four innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three. Jace Rempel led Hillcrest going one for four with two driven in. Noah Miller and Josiah Beachy also had hits for the Ravens with Miller and Eli Ours recording RBI. Luke Schrock took the loss in relief for Hillcrest, giving up two hits and two runs while striking out six across two and a third innings out of the pen. With the loss, Hillcrest is now 0-2 on the season and will travel to Mediapolis Thursday.
