The Southeast Conference opener is upon the Washington baseball and softball teams when they welcome Fort Madison for a pair of doubleheaders.

The Demon baseball team started the season with a 6-5 loss last week to Davenport Central where Reece Mayer had a pair of knocks with a home run and double. They are now 2-1 after sweeping a pair of games against Mediapolis last night. The Bloodhounds are off to a quick 3-1 start with Tate Johnson leading the offense with six runs batted in. The Washington softball squad looks to bounce back after a pair of losses to Knoxville on Tuesday. They are 2-5 with Kellie Dallmeyer having a .524 batting average and Cara Linnenkamp with a 3.13 ERA in the circle. Fort Madison is 1-4 with Lexi Whaley already having three home runs to go along with her .438 BA.
