The Mid-Prairie baseball and softball teams are back on the diamond Thursday when they welcome the Camanche Indians for single River Valley Conference contests. The Golden Hawk baseball team is 4-1 on the year after splitting a doubleheader with No. 7 Durant on Tuesday at Paul N. Bailey Field. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 4 in class 2A in the first poll of the season from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. On the year, the Hawks are hitting .364 as a team and have an overall ERA of 2.26. Individual leaders at the plate are Cain Brown and Aidan Rath each at .500. Rath has nine RBI, three homers and seven runs scored. On the mound, Alex Bean, Rath and Brown are all at 1-0. Bean and Brown have yet to give up a run.

Camanche is 2-3 on the season. They were swept at Cascade Tuesday 7-3 and 4-0. The Indians are hitting .293 as a team, with a 2.33 staff ERA. Individually, the Indians are led by Mike Delzell with a .600 average, three RBI and six runs scored. Brayden Lodge is 1-0 and has not given up a run. These two teams shared the overall River Valley Conference championship a season ago but have not met since 2019 when Camanche won 4-3. Mid-Prairie has won the other four all-time meetings.

The Golden Hawk softball team is looking for their first win on the year, entering play at 0-6 after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Durant on Tuesday in Kalona. For the year the Hawks are hitting .320 as a team with an ERA of 10.25. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Dakota Mitchell with a .429 average including nine hits and four RBI. In the circle, Myah Lugar has thrown 32 innings with an 0-4 record and 8.75 ERA.

Camanche is also 0-6 on the season, having been swept at Cascade this week by 9-0 and 14-6 scores. The Indians are hitting .193 as a team with an ERA of 13. Individually, they are led by Annika Weber with a .375 mark at the plate, six hits and an RBI. Ava Huling has thrown 29 innings with an 0-4 record and 10.86 ERA. The Indians won this matchup last year 2-0 and have won four straight in the series.
