A busy week continues for the Mid-Prairie boys and girls of summer on Friday when the softball team hosts Davenport North and the baseball team travels to Solon. The Golden Hawk girls are 1-6 on the year after picking up their first win of the season Thursday 11-3 over Camanche behind three RBI from Madeline Schrader and a win for Myah Lugar in the circle. On the year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .351 as a team and has a staff ERA of 9.21. Individually, the Hawks are led by Dakota Mitchell with a .435 average, Katelyn Schneider has a team best six RBI. In the circle, Lugar is 1-4 with a 7.72 ERA.
Davenport North is 5-3 on the year. The Wildcats dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Pleasant Valley in Mississippi Athletic Conference action Thursday. North is hitting .385 as a team with an overall ERA of 2.33. Individually they are led by McKenna Rebarcak with a .750 average. In the circle, Maddy Wardlow and Morgan Newmyer are both 2-0 with a combined 2.60 ERA. These two teams last met in 2013 with Mid-Prairie winning 10-4. The Hawks beat the Wildcats in their other meeting in 2012 5-0.
The Mid-Prairie baseball team looks to bounce back tonight after suffering their second consecutive loss, falling to Camanche 13-5 on Thursday in Wellman, when they travel to Solon Friday. Mid-Prairie is 4-2 on the season. The Hawks are hitting .364 as a team with an ERA of 2.26. They are led individually by Cain Brown and Aidan Rath who are both hitting .500. Rath has a team best nine RBI, seven runs scored and three homers. On the mound, Alex Bean, Brown and Rath are all 1-0 with Bean and Brown yet to give up a run.
Solon is 5-3 on the season, they swept Williamsburg last night 6-5 and 20-2. On the year, the Spartans are hitting .273 with an ERA of 4.12. Individually, Solon is led by Blake Timmons with a .400 average, eight hits and six RBI. Will Noonan is 1-0 with a 2.47 ERA. These teams met last season with the Spartans scoring a 6-4 win in Wellman. Softball starts at five in Kalona, baseball at seven in Solon.
