You have heard about the infamous Kerry Wood 20 strikeout game for the Cubs, but how about the Colten Clarahan 21 strikeout game for Keota? The junior hurler gave his defense the night off on Wednesday by taking matters into his own hands and striking out 21 Iowa Valley batters en route to a 7-0 conference victory.

Clarahan threw 108 pitches of near perfect ball by giving up only one hit and two walks to go along with every retired batter being sent down via strikeout. For good measure the junior had more hits offensively than he gave up by going 2-for-4 at the plate. Brady Duwa and Max Johnson each had two RBI in the win.

The victory over the Tigers was sandwiched in between a 7-1 win over Lone Tree and 10-3 triumph over Winfield Mt. Union last night.  In Tuesday’s contest against the Lions, Carson Sprouse had a strong outing on the bump with a complete game two hitter giving up only one run, two walks, and striking out 13 batters.

Against WMU, Patrick Clarahan went 2-for-4 at the dish with two runs batted in and Sam Sieren also had a pair of knocks. Luke Hammen tossed four innings on the hill giving up two earned runs on nine hits and striking out eight.

Keota is now 3-1 and hosts Tri-County today. WMU is 0-6 and travels to Columbus Community this evening.
